Research Profile
Trained both as theologian and social anthropologist, Prof. Salomonsen’s research focuses on (women’s) theological agency and ritual performance at the intersection of institutional religion (Christian) and popular culture (Pagan/Traditional). Eethnographic fieldwork in USA and Norway, feminist Witchcraft and emerging new rites of Christian confirmation. Presently works in a South African township, learning about women’s post-traditional attempts at instigating social change by reinterpreting indigenous resources (symbol, narrative, ritual).

Her teaching areas include contemporary religion, method, ritual studies, constructive theology and feminist theory.
