Research Profile
Prof. Afdal’s research interests are within the field of education, values and society. He has worked on how values and knowledge in education may be understood on the background of processes of difference and globalization, both empirically and theoretically. His research interests also include the relation between theory, practice and research, religious education and the understanding of context, and learning and knowledge-creation in congregations. Further subject areas: Learning and pedagogy in general; empirical research on learning and religion; knowledge, mediation and religion; moral education in pluralistic contexts; and tolerance.
Teaching Profile
Prof. Afdal teaches courses in religious education, empirical methods and philosophy of science and in moral philosophy and pluralism, at all levels.
